Description:

This help article pertains only to UTB faculty and staff.

A VPN connection provides a secure channel between a local machine (such as home computer) and a remote machine (such as office computer).

UTB faculty and staff can access the VPN via this link --> Milau

First time use:

Temporarily disable your local PC firewall (or add milau.utb.edu) as an exception.  Some firewalls such as Microsoft Security Essentials will block the log-in function and you will receive a message "Invalid username or password..."

Open a web browser and go to milau.utb.edu

Log in with your Scorpion Domain credentials (the same as your UTB email account).

Depending on your operating system, you will be prompted to accept security warnings for add-ons such as JunierSetupClient.cab, JuniperSetupClientOCS.exe, JuniperSetupclientInstaller.exe.  (With the Windows 7 operating system you will receive numerous notices to accept/override.)

Once you are at at the prompt below. click on the Start button.

If prompted, accept/allow all notices to allow the the Network Connection module to install.

Wait a couple minutes and you should see the tiny icon below in your system tray (lower-right corner by the time) indicating that you have made a connection.  You may hover your mouse over it to verify the connection status.

The Network Connect screen (with the Start button) will remain after you are connected.  You may now close your browser if desired and connect to the UTB network via a website or Remote Desktop connection.

When you wish to disconnect, right click on the icon in your system tray and select Sign Out.

Subsequent connections:

If needed, turn off your local firewall, or add milau.utb.edu as an exception.   (If your credentials are not accepted, you may need to turn off your local firewall.)
